Working group

Implemented as Project CCM 2014 (1) and acknowledged by the 2014-2018 Regional Prevention Plan (2), the website vaccinarsinsardegna.org, thanks to the contribution of an operational team, is aimed at spreading clear, accessible and correct information on the prevention of infectious diseases for the population as a whole, also providing efficient productivity and management tools to the operators interested in prevention in Sardinia.

(1) = The CCM 2014 project (National Centre for Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health) plans to "Monitor public confidence in vaccination programs and its information needs by developing an assisted decision-making system for vaccinations via the 'Vaccinarsi.org' site and other sites and social networks specifically dedicated to vaccinations - Region of Veneto, lead partner.

(2) = The 2014-2018 Regional Prevention Plan provides - as Activity 9.1.3.3 of Action 9.1.3 - the execution of an information and communication campaign on vaccinations and vaccine-preventable diseases - for the "Development and reinforcement of vaccinations ".

The implementation and constitution of the website vaccinarsinsardegna.org was constructed through the collection, analysis and study of all data, news and regional indications on preventable diseases and vaccinations, by collecting and reviewing all the material concerning the vaccination services of each ASSL, in terms of brochures, leaflets, questionnaires, presentations, initiatives and posters of an informative and educational nature, including the Public Service Charter and the Travel Medicine Section. These were examined, analysed and approved by the Technical Scientific Committee and by the Panel of Experts, outstanding for their professional competence, background and proven experience in medical-scientific and specific sector.

Published on 14 November 2017, the vaccinarsinsardegna.org website is now an institutional reality in the Vaccination Health Communication of the Region of Sardinia, and since 1 November 2017 has witnessed the creation of a working group at the Hygiene and Hospital Infection Control Unit of the AOU Sassari. The Group is coordinated by Prof. Paolo Castiglia - Project Manager and regional contact, Professor of Hygiene at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the University of Sassari, member of the Scientific Committee and Head of the Complex Operative Unit, Dr. Antonella Arghittu - Biologist and Portal Manager at the University Hospital of Sassari, Dr. Marco Dettori - Biologist specialised in Microbiology and Virology and Researcher of Hygiene, and Dr. Andrea Cossu - Biologist specialised in Food Science, Laboratory Technician (A.T.L.) at the University of Sassari and Quality Contact at the Facility.

In its first year of activity, the working group was specifically trained and periodically updated by the team of engineers and professionals who still supervise the entire VaccinarSì network, through training and higher education courses for the administration and management of the portal. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Specialisation Schools of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine of the University of Sassari (UniSS) and Cagliari (UniCA), the group studies and analyses the phenomenon of vaccine refusal to the extent that currently, the decision-making process inherent in the choice of adherence to vaccination programs and user compliance are strongly influenced by what is read online; the anti-vaccination information present on the web has indeed a proven impact on the perception of the risk linked to vaccines. In light of the above, the working group deals on a day-to-day basis with the constant updating of all sections of the portal, overseeing the press review, processing the data collected, drafting the articles and news and reviewing all material published on the site, under the coordination of the Technical Scientific Committee and the Panel of Experts who, in addition to helping to screen and produce the material on the site, guarantee the quality of all information published.
